What a useful production review should deliver

Production reviews are easy to commission and easy to file away. The useful ones share a trait: they end with a short list of actions someone is accountable for.

Start with the decision

Before pulling a single decline curve, write down what the review is meant to decide. Which wells get capital this quarter? Which lift systems need attention? What should be shut in?

Rank, don’t just list

A list of fifty opportunities is not a plan. Rank them by expected value and confidence, and be honest about the uncertainty in each.

A well review earns its place when it changes the next operating decision.

Close the loop

Agree on a baseline before work starts, and compare results against it afterward. That is how the next review gets better.
