Austin Young is an Engineer at Bourbon Bit Energy. He is based out of Lafayette, LA, although he can often be found in oil and gas fields across the United States. Austin heads up our domestic business development and manages our drilling and completion engagements, among other projects. Austin is a Petroleum Engineer graduate from LSU and is working towards acquiring his P.E License. Austin is also the Principal at Southpaw Petroleum Services and Quest Energy.

Austin is a Petroleum Engineer with experience in a multitude of areas ranging from reserve analysis and production forecasting to on-site drilling engineering and supervision. Currently, Austin is the Managing Member of Southpaw Petroleum Services LLC, where he performs an assortment of oil and gas consulting services for operators, non-operating WI owners, royalty owners, and Engineering Firms. Southpaw Petroleum’s largest completed project was drilling engineering and well site supervision for a 5+ well development program in Wharton County Texas consisting of managing $2.5+MM Drill and Complete AFEs and Operations, which spanned from June 2019 until February 2020. Since that time, Southpaw Petroleum has earned the trust of multiple operators and non-operators by providing transparent recommendations and projections based off of data and best engineering practices.

Over Austin’s 9 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, he has acquired valuable experience in all Upstream Petroleum Engineering disciplines, including the business and land aspects of the industry. This vast experience enables Austin to effortlessly work directly others to identify both problems and solutions for the day-to-day activities involved in efficiently operating and maintaining oil and gas wells.
